About me

I am a creative multimedia Senior Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer with a proven track record of successful implementations. I am passionate at what I do and have worked for a global Fortune 500 company, an eCommerce marketplace, academic institutions, among others. Along the way, I have achieved awards for collaboration with management teams to plan and execute training strategies that elevated customer focus, productivity, and employee satisfaction.

As a Master of Education graduate who is solutions-oriented, I have the ability to quickly and independently learn new systems and technologies while thriving in fast-paced team settings.

3

My approach to design and education comes from an extensive background in academia and corporate environments.  I've trained and motivated people of all ages, from all walks of life. Regardless of their background, I believe everyone can bring something unique to the table.

Through extensive research and plenty of pragmatism, I've recognized that adults do not respond well to "data dumps". Rather, we learn better through scenario-based training and hands-on application.

In the end, it's all about the learner.

Multimedia Solutions

Security Awareness Training Video

In this age of remote working and learning, the need for robust multimedia solutions is more critical than ever. I design and manage eLearning modules that makes an impact on the behavior of employees at every level.

In this sales video, the raw footage, many with scenes of 'green screens', was given to me to develop in After Effects. Audio was added and edited using Audacity and other editing applications. Photoshop and Illustrator were also used for image creation in both 2D and 3D animations.

This short video was developed for Symantec and its partners to promote a partnership in the academic arena. It was designed and built by me from scratch. After collaborating with a project manager and leadership, I wrote the script and storyboard.

A voice talent recorded the voice-over for me to sync with the animated visual assets and cue points.

The final output was completed on-time and published to multiple sales channels for broad distribution and visibility. This video was also presented at a technical developer's conference for enterprise customers and partners.

The Power of Training

In today's fast-paced world, everyone wants to learn quickly and only what they need. Tutorials and other types of trainings, such as product training, need to be focused and "bite-size". Learners do not want to sit through an hour of training just to get the nugget of information they need to perform their jobs.

I specialize in creating interactive videos for multiple platforms that illustrate core concepts structured in a systematic manner. The trainings are dynamic and relevant, just what the learner wants and expects.

Portfolio Screenshots

My professional experience is built from working in various industries that cover information technology, eCommerce marketplace, healthcare, higher education and academic publishing. I've worked across many business units with a broad cross-section of learner backgrounds and discovered that everyone brings something uniquely special to the table.

As an educator and instructional designer, it is my job to motivate and inspire using proven methodologies that form the backbone of sound learning. Below are a few screenshots from training modules published in the LMS for both regional and global consumption.

Articulate Storyline and Photoshop were the tools used to develop this module.

Technical Expertise

In addition to being proficient in Instructional Design theories, my projects utilize popular software applications to fully engage learners across all platforms. My specialty is designing and developing online content for AICC and SCORM-compliant eLearning distribution on Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Saba Cloud, SumTotal, Moodle, TopYX, Docebo, and Cornerstone.

My projects combine industry offerings with bold graphics and images to create strong aesthetic visuals for full learner engagement.

Graphic Design

With a Bachelor's degree in visual arts and a Master's degree in Instructional Design, I offer deliverables that are graphically striking and backed with substance that comes from years of developing training and enablement solutions.

Training is more than the sharing of knowledge and skills. It is also an exercise in concise communication between Subject Matter Experts and their audience.

Core Competencies

Here is a sampling of some of my instructional design competencies. They range from needs analysis to project management to selecting the right balance of hybrid models of instructional materials that can be delivered virtually or instructor-led in the classroom.

Blended Learning

This combines a hybrid model of instruction that is both online, asynchronous and classroom-based. Not all content can be made online. It is my job to analyze the content to create an outline that is the best of both worlds.

ADDIE Model

This is a popular system of instructional design that outlines methodologies to enhance learner effectiveness. I also use the Dick and Carey model of instructional design taught at my alma mater, UMass Boston.

Kirkpatrick's Evaluation

This is a model of evaluating learner understanding, from retention to on-the-job application. Often times, I write assessments to gauge the effectiveness of training and then report the results to managers and other stakeholders.

Project Management

I have demonstrated experience managing projects and delivering them in a timely manner, collaborating with stakeholders from all business units.

Needs Analysis

Before a course or training can be developed, the goals and objectives must be clearly defined. This is one of my favorite tasks of the ID process as it allows me to research and solve current problems or knowledge gaps.

Instructional Technology

Finding the right tools to solve a problem is the neat thing about instructional technology. Every adult learns differently and my job is to find ways of reaching and delivering high results.

Education

With a Master's Degree in Instructional Design, specializing in Instructional Technology and eLearning, my contribution to training and education teams reflect the discipline and commitment fostered from years of working in fast-paced corporate environments and traditional academic settings.

A bachelor's degree in art and design allows me to create engaging visual elements with a modern sensibility to all my professional work.

Through design and analysis, I learned the importance of layout, interface, and unique user experience. This is what keeps the learner engaged, with a high capacity to retain critical, relevant information.

Shout-out: During my studies, I've met numerous wonderful classmates, some of whom I still consider friends at both the professional and personal level. They are talented, driven, and compassionate folks whom I am grateful for their friendship and inspiration.

Volunteering

During the 2018-2019 school year, I volunteered each weekday morning at a local elementary school to assist the student orchestra music program. Duties included setting up chairs for the ensembles and light clean up. This freed the teacher musicians at the Boston Music Project (formerly Josiah Quincy Orchestra Program) to focus their mornings on prepping lessons for their students.

In the 2019-2020 school year, I drove the Science Team at Boston Latin School as a parent chaperone to regional high school science competitions. Sometimes the students reward me with free pizzas!

Volunteering allows me to give back to the community, a feeling imbued with joy, especially when the recipients are children and young adults at local public schools.
